The Windmill Angling Club Trophy – July 2024

Pictured from left to right: our Match Secretary, Stu Drabble and the worthy winner, Pete “Lucky” Boyce.
The day began with a few spots of rain, and this pattern persisted, but it didn’t diminish the excitement for a good day at Hunters Pool. The warm days we had enjoyed in the North West were gone, replaced by a chilly, rainy day in June.
We all assembled for the draw – Stu had picked 4 pegs on Hunter’s West Bank and 4 pegs on the East Bank. It was great to see 2 new “Matchmen” in the shape of Allan and Mike joining us at Hunters to accompany some of the usual faces.
Bob started the action with a decent Carp and then Pete Boyce steadily got into a shoal of Bream and he picked them off one-by-one. The interesting point is that almost everyone on the West Bank caught, opposed to almost everyone on the East Bank blanking – go figure! Although it has to be mentioned that Allan Kaye had to leave early – so he could have bucked that trend.
But, none of that mattered or dampened the now, mandatory banter and p*ss taking.
A lovely day to start our 2024 match calendar – thank you to all that gave up their day and thank you to Stu for organising.
So, the final results were…
Position | Name | Weight | Peg No. |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Pete Boyce | 20lb 04oz | 15 |
2 | Bob Hallworth | 16lb 10oz | 12 |
3 | Chris Plant | 3lb 15oz | 18 |
4 | Mike Harding | 4oz | 3 |
5= | Ray Boden | - | 17 |
5= | Stu Drabble | - | 5 |
5= | Allan Kaye | - | 1 |

A huge thank you to Stu for organising the match today. A really good day – and very good financially for the club (Pete Boyce, the winner donated some of his prize money to the club) as well as it earning the match fees.
