The Peter Edge Celebration Cup – September 2022

Our good friend, Peter Edge

After two postponements, we finally got there – our inaugural match in memory of our dear, and very much missed friend, Peter Edge.

Within the first few minutes, Brian Smith landed a fabulous 2lb 5oz Tench, so we all knew the competition was on. All started to catch small Perch and Roach and then Andy Southern netted a 7lb 6oz Carp. This remained the largest fish until 3/4 of the way through the match and Adam Sebes landed a Carp – 1oz heavier!!

Adam finally won the match with a total of 8lb 2oz. All the fish caught were weighed with our new match Scales, Tripod and Sling and, again, all fish were in great condition.

At the end of the match, Anne Edge, Peter’s widow, awarded Adam the brand-new, sparkling Cup and then as punishment, Nick Metcalfe got the “Booby” prize and stood in shame whilst it sang its song.
